Synthetic Immunogens

Pepscan has developed synthetic immunogens using peptide-based protein mimics that have great value for the development of therapeutic antibodies and synthetic vaccines. Researchers at Pepscan were among the first worldwide to demonstrate that peptides can be utilized as simple synthetic mimics of whole proteins. Lately Pepscan has been applying its thorough know-how of protein mimicry to discontinuous regions of membrane bound receptors.Pepscan recently discovered a novel template for use in antibody generation against membrane receptors. Through the combination of CLIPS technology with this new synthetic immunogen template, Pepscan has developed a methodology to generate potent antibodies against membrane-integrated receptors, such as GPCR’s and ion-channels.   The unique methodology gives access to a class of antibodies that is not easily accessible using conventional methods, and therefore unlocks the full potential of this target class for antibody therapeutics.
